Within my artistic practice, I’ve delved into the profound connection be - tween my hometown, Cetinje, and the Obod factory, a pillar of Ex YU industrial heritage. Beyond its personal significance as my birthplace, Cetinje has come to embody a metaphysical portal, offering glimpses into the surrounding hills and the towering mountain backdrop against which the city is nestled. This perspective prompted contemplation on Cetinje’s resilience amidst the passage of time, and the transformative effects of societal shifts on daily life and existential perceptions within its bounds. The bond with Obod holds deep personal resonance, as both my parents were employed there until its closure in 2008. This pivotal event left an indelible mark on our lives and those of many in our community, instilling enduring impressions and fissures within our collective experiences. The dynamic interplay between historical forces that initially fostered the formation of the working class during the socialist era, only to be coopted by capitalist mechanisms for its dissolution, has engendered a hybrid social milieu. This perpetual state of flux has ensnared workers in a liminal space between divergent economic paradigms, shaping the very fabric of our societal landscape. Yet, the incomplete adaptation to evolving lifestyles and mindsets has precipitated a pervasive sense of uncertainty and abandonment, transmitted across generational divides.
